So this is my year of walks...

Nothing fancy. It is exactly what it says it is. Over the next year, I want to take a walk every day. For an entire year. Hopefully, along my journey I can discover better health, weight loss, and a sense of direction and purpose in my life. And so my journey begins. On my way to a better me.

Feb 7, 2010

A full day of events was happening today, and I had to make room to get my walk in. So between trips, I thought I'd like to walk along the shores of Tampa Bay just off Gandy Blvd. by the Freedom Trail (now closed to the public). The shoreline of this particular stretch of beach is loaded with discarded cement blocks and pilings, and old cement pipeline. It has become a somewhat cool part of the existing landscape.
You'd almost think this is a fort, but this is just some discarded cement blocks piled up along the shore of Tampa Bay. Beautiful day. Choppy seas, but the weather was brilliant.
I walked out on to this natural boardwalk of old cement slabs. They're not as neat as they look. Some of these blocks were several feet apart, and some were laying straight up on their sides. But I took a walk out to the end of these for a picture. I just couldn't resist.
From the shore of St. Pete, you can look across the bay on a clear day and see the profile of Downtown Tampa. I love this part of Florida. Love it.
