So this is my year of walks...

Nothing fancy. It is exactly what it says it is. Over the next year, I want to take a walk every day. For an entire year. Hopefully, along my journey I can discover better health, weight loss, and a sense of direction and purpose in my life. And so my journey begins. On my way to a better me.

Today is walk #272. I'm on the Clearwater causeway, SR60. Beautiful sunset tonight.

Panoramic of the weather canopy!

The birds come in at sunset to nest on the shore.

Tonight, it's #271 at the nursing home in the rain. Not a long walk, but a quality walk.

Here's why tonight's walk was great. That's my daughter Melissa, happy and healthy and getting herself all back together!

She loves her Pop Pop. And he could not be any more proud of his granddaughter.

September 27, 2010

Mike and I head out to the beach for my walk #270 after a dinner at PJ's. This is Indian Rocks Beach, and the storm clouds are indications of what's to come over the next week.

We're in the midst of tropical storms moving in and over the area. Not directly hit, but some storms coming in.

This was an odd scene on tonight's walk. Two dudes, appearing to be middle-eastern obviously playing together... but it just looked SO gay that it fascinated me enough to take a picture.

This is a cool beach house. All the European flags made me think of a beach Pub inside... anyone for a cold beer?

Me squishing Mike because he's checking his texts.

This photo is not zoomed, it's actual size! The gull was trying to pass me by, but the wind kept him suspended in front of me. Made for a pretty cool shot. And the journey continues...

Taking advantage of the fact that I had to be in downtown St. Petersburg today, I took the opportunity to walk around the streets near Tropicana field. I'm here on the East side of the field around 1st avenue south and 16th street for walk #269. It's a hot HOT day, and the Rays are losing inside that building behind me, while the Bucs are getting killed over in Tampa at the Ray Jay.

This is The Trop sign near I 275 and it IS a big sign.

A little highway architecture for you here. It's all about perspective.

There were crack addicts on the near side of this building down the alley way. This is a metal hut that looks more like a WWII barracks.

Something about the fact that this door was the ONLY opening on this block-long building fascinated me. The building is a pure white canvas, but only a single panel was used on one of the door panes for graffiti. Fascinating. And the journey continues...

Walk 268 is here again at Manor Care. A hectic schedule has me all over town and you have to get your walk where you can grab it. It was good to see Melissa and head over to see my friend Nancy today. Tough times, but still making it work.

Another rainbow! This is a first though.

These guys are SO playful...

And everything's a playground.

Nancy at Books at Park place gave me a great game right up my alley. I played Zombie Dice with dad tonight.

Walk #267 tonight is at Dads facility after FINALLY getting there. Things in my personal life have really ramped up and are now taking even more of my time, so you have to get your walk in wherever you are and make the time.

A touch of Hollywood came to my work today as crews rolled in to shoot scenes for an upcoming movie. It was coordinated chaos, but a lot of fun watching the action.

Walk #266 in the neighborhood. Walk when you can, walk where you are.

Somebody's getting a new living room set today!

Still green, even in Autumn.

Storm clouds roll in every day and it wasn't long before they unleashed. The journey continues...

Walk 265 tonight begins the 100-walk countdown. I'm on my way now into the final stretch of walks. After tonight, only 99 to go. Lets see what the first day of Autumn has in store.

Sunset peeking through the sea grass.

Birds in flight.

If you stay in one place long enough at the beach, sooner or later the action will pass right in front of you. The key is to capture that moment. Even in solitude, there is anticipation and action.

From storms to sunset... this panoramic shows you the diversity of tonight's landscape.

Heading toward the beach...

Going...

Going...

Almost gone!

A taste of Key West here I thought... tonight... the journey continues... on to 99!

#264 with "the girls"
A rarely seen boater on lake Carillon.
How many shots of this tower do I have to have before it gets old?

The cat tails are funny now...
Exhausted from the heat...

Tonight, it's walk #263 in the neighborhood. It's one of the first "feels like Fall" evenings this year, the air still warm, but the sun at a nice angle, and the humidity lower. Fall will be coming soon.

Beautiful blue sky canvas and green palm trees. I like this picture.

This dude built himself a tri-chopper. It was loud and cool, and he passed me twice on my walk. Very cool.

Roadside wild flowers show the signs of Autumn approaching.

And the journey continues...
