So this is my year of walks...

Nothing fancy. It is exactly what it says it is. Over the next year, I want to take a walk every day. For an entire year. Hopefully, along my journey I can discover better health, weight loss, and a sense of direction and purpose in my life. And so my journey begins. On my way to a better me.

Walk 219 happening tonight at the Clearwater Bridge. This is my mountain. My task for tonight. Walk over and the world opens up to you. Well, at least THIS part of the world.

The pirate ship is right on cue. Sailing back into port.

The view looking west, on the way back over the bridge. Pink skies illuminating on the quiet surf.

As the sun sets, the skies open up to reveal their brilliance. Tonight, the sky is on fire.

Flames of radiant sunlight burn on the horizon as I pause to get a self portrait. This one, well worth the wait.

Quiet. Peaceful... a quiet journey continues.

Tonight I'm taking my 218th walk out on Indian Rocks Beach. I'm trying out this camera my friend and boss Linda let me borrow. It's a Sony Cybershot Digital Still Camera. Only 5 megapixels, but the 10x optical zoom makes for some amazing pictures.

The camera has this tilt lens that allows you to get low into the picture and still see how you're framing in the digital window.

Even sport shots from a respectable distance get a nice capture with the automatic setting.

All this beauty while walking. I'm SO shocked I never discovered the secret of just getting out there before. What have I been missing? Many many nights of this.

Beautiful. Just beautiful...

Night settles in and the journey continues...

Tonight, I'm in Clearwater on the 60 bridge again, but with a new (borrowed) camera. This is walk 217, and I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xti with me. Nice framed shot here with the pink sky and the red pirate ship on the horizon.

It's funny how much beauty has surrounded me all these years, and I never noticed until I began to walk among all of it.

A pirate returning home.

Hot town Summer in the city.

This is walk 216. A hole in the sky tonight providing a mirror image on the Intercoastal.

The stark contrast of a thundering sky...

Yes, that lightning is real in the background. On night #215, I felt particularly daring so I shot some video during an oncoming electrical storm and took a freeze frame. Not a bad capture, but I would have liked the lightning a little more intense. You have to admit, the look on the face is pretty fitting.

Coming out of the rehab house now after seeing Dad, the sky was turning black and the birds gathered to discuss the route to avoid the oncoming storm. It was pretty close to a real life Hitchcock film.

The OTHER side of the sky has the sunset. That's where the colors live, that's where it looks the best.

Tonight, walk #214 is just a brief walk to take in some of the sights and sounds of Seminole Park.
The ducks all gather near the shore and hit up any newcomer for snacks.

The wide view of the park. This is looking East from the bandstand.

This is why you should never show your hand to a hungry duck. This woman brought all her kids out to feed the ducks, but when they got a peek at her supply, the attack was on. And so the journey continues...

#213 today. Wow... so far, loving this journey. I'm seeing things and going places I would have NEVER seen had I not challenged myself. I'm back up on top of the Belleair Causeway tonight. One o my favorite spots. Had a tough, challenging day, but the walking really helps you let go of some of the craziness.

You've heard the saying "Like two ships that pass in the night". Here they are.

Nature's framing.

A lone jet-skiier taking up the challenge of the waters near Belleair.
